What is a Pivot Table?

  • a way to analyze data without formulas
  • can summarize data from a spreadsheet
  • automatically updates as you add data

Ok, how do I make one?

Go to the Insert tab and select PivotTable

Then select the data you want

Now make your table

Ordering and Filtering

  • change what column to order your table by
  • exclude any data you don't want
  • filter the results

Tips

  • Play around with different tables
  • Move fields around to change the shape of the table
  • Add formulas to get extra data
  • Don't be scared – the original data isn't changed
